HOW DOES ENABLING IMPROVE PEOPLE’S LIVES?
At LGM Enabling, our services are rooted in the belief that with the right support, individuals can lead fulfilling, independent lives regardless of age, disability, or health condition. Our enabling support creates positive and lasting change, underpinned by a person-centred approach and backed by evidence from national policy and research.

1. Increased Social Connection and Belonging
Social isolation is recognised as a significant risk factor for poor health outcomes, particularly among older adults and people with disabilities (Public Health England, 2015). Through regular companionship and support, LGM Enabling helps individuals build and maintain meaningful relationships, access community spaces, and engage in social activities. These connections foster a greater sense of inclusion, belonging, and improved mental wellbeing.

2. Emotional Wellbeing and Psychosocial Support
Compassionate, ongoing emotional support can buffer the effects of stress, bereavement, loneliness, low mood anxiety. Our team offer a consistent, empathetic presence. It makes a difference having someone to listen, to encourage, and to stand beside individuals through life's challenges. This aligns with NICE guidance on supporting people with long-term conditions, which emphasises the importance of relational, non-clinical support for improved outcomes.

3. Promoting Physical Health and Daily Functioning
Enabling support extends to practical help with daily routines and encouraging healthy behaviours such as regular meals, physical activity, and attending health appointments. Evidence shows that social support and gentle encouragement significantly improve adherence to health plans and reduce avoidable health deterioration (King’s Fund, 2014). Our team plays a proactive role in maintaining physical wellbeing through everyday practical assistance.

4. Reassurance and Relief for Families and Carers
LGM Enabling provides families with much-needed peace of mind. Knowing their loved ones are receiving high-quality, respectful support from trained professionals allows family carers to take time for themselves and reduces caregiver burnout. This aligns with government strategies that promote shared models of care between families and community-based services.

5. Supporting Independence and Dignity
Central to our work is helping individuals maintain their independence and autonomy. By supporting people to live safely in their own homes, manage their routines, and engage with their interests, we promote self-efficacy, confidence, and dignity. Research consistently shows that enabling, strengths-based support leads to better long-term outcomes than over-reliance on traditional care models (SCIE, 2022).
